Today I have something different than a card, I have a small box. The inspiration came from this wonderful story about fern… a true fairy tale! If you wish to know more, please head over here http://ecopaper-su.blogspot.com/2018/06/vasilek.html. I can’t read Cyrillic, but my friend Google translate it for me, so I believe you can do the same.
And a few close-ups in my attempt to explain the above tale with images
Wait, I have something else to share. I recently received this adorable stamp set of three beetles by LZ. I’m not crazy for real bugs, except butterflies and dragonflies, but I love bug images and 3D works made from fabric, ceramic and so on… If you take a moment to inspect my box, you will see one of those beetles, that I shrunk, in the bottom right corner. Then I decided to use a different beetle in a fun way.
Here is the how to, that you can adapt to any image of your preference:
- Heat emboss the image with gold EP in watercolor paper. Use watercolors to your heart’s content.
- Fussy cut and shape it using a stylus tool.
- Now the fun part! Use a bit of iridescent EP to accent some areas, in this case, I used it over the blue areas. It will be trapped between the next layers of clear EP. I coated both sides with about three layers of clear EP.
I finished off by adhering the paper beetle to a ring. It becomes quite sturdy and durable, except the antennae. I’ve been watching photos of beetles and some of them are like living jewels, as the amazing Anthaxia, but mine won’t run off my finger :). Hope you have fun experimenting!
