This is a lonely and sad post… okay, not that dramatic. This was the complement for this card that I promised to make in order to bring more sense for my option of adding animals to a wedding greeting card. I’m aware that it may be misjudged, but I don’t see anything wrong about the theme… after all we give cards to parents and other gifts decorated with animals when a child is born. Are we being disrespectful to parents? I don’t think so… everyone like this theme for children related gifts, so why not make it also a theme for weddings? May be unusual, but there are couples getting married under the water… let’s say the bride is a Biologist and the groom is a Veterinary.
I thought that these animals could actually be flattering to guests, and decided to make some table place cards. I just couldn’t submit to Altenew challenge, because yesterday was one of those days… Anyway, I wish to share the result.
I made three different types of place cards – the “Unforgettable” for women and young girls, the “Majestic” for men, and the “Fierce” for young boys… better than a lion, only a shark :). Here is the how to:
“Unforgettable” – partially die cut the elephant, then embossed the rest of the body in one piece of paper and folded in half. I masked the figure, stamped some peonies and heat embossed. Heat embossed a banner and created some computer generated words.
“Majestic” – partially die cut the giraffe from one piece of paper leaving a “seam”, embossed, and then partially die cut the moon in a different piece of paper. I water colored the moon because I’m still waiting for the “Moon” stamp set. Glued both parts together and scored the moon in the top folding line so the giraffe’s head would be kept straight when opening the place card on the table.
“Fierce” – I didn’t want the lion to look like he is floating on top of the place card, so I did the same as in previous cards (partially die cut and embossed), but added one more fold to the bottom where I tucked some leaves; this way the lion seems like he’s walking on the leaves. I hope you like it, and maybe give it a try.
Stamps: Altenew – Hennah Elements, Peony Scrolls.
Dies: Altenew – Baby Zoo; SC – Single Banner; Sizzix Framelits – Circles #2.
